Women’s Health
Manual Physical Therapy
Our women’s health specialists provide expert pelvic health care in a supportive one-on-one environment. The program’s primary focus is to help address bladder dysfunction, pelvic pain, pregnancy and postpartum care.
RPI Therapy Services offers comprehensive Women’s Health Care, which includes specialized care for pregnancy, postpartum, pelvic pain, low back/hip pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, incontinence, bladder dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, and pelvic organ prolapse. Our Women’s Health therapists undergo specialized coursework and certifications to demonstrate their expertise in the field of women’s health rehabilitation.
When it comes to women’s health, remember that “common” isn’t necessarily “normal.” Just because it is common for women to experience urinary incontinence or pelvic pain doesn’t mean it is normal.
Symptoms can greatly improve with specialized physical therapy care tailored to address each woman’s needs.
Pregnancy significantly impacts a woman’s body. Some women experience pain, and women’s health physical therapists can help manage by treating muscle, bone, fascia, and joint dysfunction. Continuing to be active during pregnancy can help maintain overall fitness level, manage blood pressure, and reduce excessive weight gain, incontinence, and gestational diabetes.
Postpartum musculoskeletal changes may include: diastasis recti, C-section scar management, urinary incontinence, constipation, and regaining core function. Our women’s health therapists will develop a personalized program and plan of care to help restore function and achieve your long-term goals. Both of our Women’s Health Therapists are newly certified Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialists.
Women’s Health Therapists can help alleviate pain and/or restore optimal function through various treatment techniques that include:
- Manual Therapy, including Functional Dry Needling
- Therapeutic and Corrective Exercise
- Postural Training and Body Mechanic/Ergonomic Assessment
- Neuromuscular Re-education
- Patient Education
- Functional Movement Pattern, Gait, and Running Analysis
